African Drum Class

As a student of Kafolike School of Percussion, you not only learn various rhythms, history of Malinke (Mandingue) culture, the Malinke people, and the region of the rhythm, we also study solo phrases, build stamina, and more. If you are a drummer looking to sharpen your skills, or simply new to it all, this is a perfect way to start on your journey of full understanding, application, sound and knowledge of Djembe and its orchestra..

Semester 1 of 2024

Learn essential Djembe/Dundun rhythms, history of Malinke (Mandingue) culture, the Malinke people, and the region of the rhythm, we also study solo phrases, build stamina, and more. ALL LEVELS

 

Semester 1 ( Sundays, February 18, 25, March 3 and 10)

 

Location: Chicago Multicultural Dance Center

                       47 W Polk St, Chicago, IL 60605

 

Time: 2:00pm to 4:00pm

 

Tuition: $65 

 

Drum rental: $10 per day (Drums are limited and must be arranged at least a week before the semester)

Drop-in: $20 (Drop-ins welcomed but not suggested, as each semester has an indepth curriculum where each class of the semester is a building block. We truly encourage all students to maximize the learning in the full semester setting.
